The Smith House

Glass and steel giving way to shifting light and shadow inside Craig Ellwood’s Smith House, a defining work of Los Angeles mid-century modernism. Set along its sun-washed thresholds, the glazed white stoneware vessels stand in quiet geometry, catching passing light and holding their ground beside Ellwood’s own steel frame, vessel and structure sharing the same honesty of material.
