Cité Radieuse

A modernist housing block designed by Le Corbusier and built on proportion, repetition, and material honesty. Raw concrete and a grid of modular façades gave the building its logic.

Goudron, born in Marseille, and Modernica carried that logic down to human scale in a limited-edition chair, finished front and back with a repeating Goudron logo. The edition is limited to thirteen pieces, a nod to Bouches-du-Rhône, Marseille’s home département, number 13.

Set inside Cité Radieuse, the chair becomes the building’s counterpart, its logo echoing the façade grid. One shapes space for collective life, the other shapes how a single person experiences it. Two scales of the same idea.
